To Representative Agustín Alonso
In these months of journalistic denunciation in Morelos, I have had the opportunity to observe many situations, most of them negative, however, within all the mud, I have been struck by the dedication and political passion of a man I do not know, and that by watching him in the front row, he has earned my respect.
And just as I point out what needs to be questioned and exposed, I also want to point out what needs to be imitated, and I am referring to Congressman Agustín Alonso, a politician from Morelos who, for having the capacity, professional ethics and congruence to do his job, today is the center of the rage of the governor in office, Cuauhtémoc Blanco , because in a display of political cowardice in the face of the legal possibility of being audited and therefore exposed, he has chosen to threaten him so that the spotlight will point somewhere other than at his incapacity.
It is evident that Cuauhtémoc Blanco will fail in a citizen evaluation. After almost 5 years of government, the non-fulfillment of his campaign promises have increasingly caused the fragmentation of Morelos, a state he has turned into a jigsaw puzzle with a disastrous situation of insecurity, economic and social, in which he has plunged the people of Morelos who have every right to hold him accountable and for which Congressman Agustin Alonso, understanding his political role, has woven from the local Congress the way to demand results. The following you will read is the most representative, -to keep it in your memory- of the team work headed by Agustin Alonso, Morelos native, congressman and proudly from Yautepense.
1. The legislative team worked against the governor's control of the Superior Auditing and Fiscalization Entity (ESAF), which, although the Constitution and the law state that it belongs to the Congress, in reality it was controlled by the Executive. This auditing entity was not operative, since it was not autonomous, it did not audit, it did not supervise and the only two audits it had concluded were those of Cuauhtémoc Blanco's three-year term as mayor of Cuernavaca and that of Alfonso de Jesús Sotelo (at that time president of the Board of Directors of the Congress) as mayor of Jojutla.
2. Headed the legislative team against the 2022 budget for free transfers. On that occasion, only 12 of the 14 votes needed were cast and therefore the 2021 budget, which contemplated free transfers, prevailed.
3. During the appearance of José Antonio Ortiz Guarneros, it was Congressman Agustín Alonso who told him to resign out of dignity due to the dismal results in security matters.
4. Worked against the budget destined to social communication of the Government of Morelos, since year after year an average of 120 million was designated, but with the free transfers more than 240 million were used annually. These resources, for example, were destined to black campaigns against the deputies.
5. It was during the appearance of the head of the office of the Secretary of Public Works of the state government, in which she herself acknowledged that not a single important work has been done and that they have only dedicated themselves to "small works". This has supported what the Deputy has questioned about the government of Cuauhtémoc Blanco.
6. By personal allusions, it was Congressman Agustín Alonso who responded to Ulises Bravo, brother of the governor, accusing him of being the one who operates the businesses and contracts within the state government, becoming the Rodrigo Gayosso of this state government.
What is certain is that in one year, the government of Morelos will be handed over to a new governor without an instruction manual and with the institutions turned into petty cash.
Today, from my profession as a journalist of denunciation, I express my solidarity to Congressman Agustin Alonso because he has proven to be a Morelense with lead feet and a functional heart, working with the conviction that tomorrow must be better for his land and for those who live or pass through it, and for that alone, he has my recognition.
As a journalist I know what it means to be threatened and I know firsthand the strings that pull inside. I have felt not only that anguish but also that courage and frustration when receiving destructive and intimidating phrases or messages for putting the spotlight on corruption by exposing those who abuse power. In spite of how uncomfortable it is to have the apparatus of power behind these threats, it has been vital to count on the solidarity, sisterhood and fraternal embrace of strangers and friends with the open and public message of real support and the phrase: you are not alone.
So you are not alone, Congressman Agustin Alonso, I deeply regret that before a real and committed work for your state, you are today the center of political baseness.
And to you, citizen, I share with you a phrase that today more than ever should represent us: Martin Luther King said: "I am not concerned about the cry of the violent, the corrupt, the dishonest, the unethical. What worries me most is the silence of the good".
So let us never be silent for valued citizens.
