The rapist Saul Huerta never thought of his victim or of sullying his dignity when he tricked him into taking him to a Mexico City hotel, presumably drugged.
He never thought of the trauma caused to his victim who, horrified, struggled without being able to move or get up from the bed when in front of him, Huerta appeared naked, without pants and trunks, looking at him with lust and put his hand on his penis and Huerta began to touch him and then sexually abused him. The 15 year old boy in a choked cry only managed to cry and think: I have to escape from here, as soon as I can.
Surely you will read shocked about the crude language in this column but let's put aside the shocks to locate the trauma of those who are NOT responsible for a RAPE but victims.
Did the judicial authority think of the rapist's victim when giving him a sentence of 3 years 4 months?
And what do you say when you read that he is forced to pay 18,960 pesos as reparation for the damage when that morning the same aggressor offered 200,000 pesos in cash to the young man's mother so that "he would not be publicly harmed".
Are the dignity and tears of this brave young man worth 18,960 pesos to the authorities?
This is Saul Huerta's first sentence for sexual abuse in which he is granted the substitution of freedom for not exceeding the sentence of 3 and a half years; however, and although he remains in prison for a second trial, nothing guarantees that the second trial will be as smooth for Huerta's sexual aggressor and that in a few months he will be released.
I would like to think that the judicial authority is making sure that Saúl Huerta in prison is receiving psychological treatment so that he does not reoffend when he is released, right? Because of course, in this country the authorities make sure that before releasing a criminal, they enter psychological programs so that they do not reoffend, right?
It is obvious that I write with sarcasm because in this country what matters least to the judicial authorities is the mental health of victims and perpetrators.
And the question remains, why so many privileges to a rapist?
Why contemplate releasing a criminal from prison without serving his sentence and let him go free, under arrest, but at liberty? Fortunately, he will remain in detention, but with these authorities it will be "in the meantime".
That they will never again commit a crime? Because what Saúl Huerta has done regarding raping young girls is not the first time, nor the second or the third, nor will it be the last, just read the chapter dedicated to this rapist in my book: Violar desde el Poder by Aguilar, Penguin Random House Mondadori.
Measures like the use of geolocation bracelets and freedom - at least for rapists - doesn't stop them from inserting someone's penis, does it?
18,960 pesos is enough for how many therapy sessions for the victim?
When will be the day when judges stop protecting pedophiles and rapists?
