Earthquakes in our country are painful and unforgettable because of the loss of human lives and assets built by families during a generational effort. They are the genesis of the most serious failures of governments and short-sighted rulers who have not foreseen for decades, effective protocols to meet the needs of the population in the emergency; they act by inertia not foresight, while society is active in the face of the improvisation of the authorities and guided by their intuition.

The earthquakes have shown us the worst of the political class when the collapse of several buildings was followed by the real estate business or those who have withheld donations for electoral purposes and omissions in construction permits in contrast to thousands of anonymous heroes who left home without a return date being part of brigades and offering donations.

Although it hurts to write it, no earthquake has given any guarantee of public actions, much less a mobilization of politicians in the disaster zone.

Let's be honest, after the shake-up, where are the legislators? Where are the faces and names of the politicians who carpet the city at election time? I can swear to you that if there is one who comes out to help, it will be for the pettiness of their benefit but not for really being in solidarity and then, what are we citizens to them?

Where are those who govern us in those hours of anguish, to roll up their sleeves, mixed with civil society and willing to remove the debris hand in hand to also replace the archaic structure of their parties in the face of the tragedy?

In this century, no one is ignorant of the past and we have all been affected by the irresponsibility of those elected with our vote.

The cynicism is such that those who have lost everything enter into a Machiavellian plan for housing through the federal mortgage company with interest on interest at a rate of 9 percent, only one point less than what private banks would offer.

Let's stop having a short memory, the families affected by 19S in 2017 and 1985 in addition to losing their only possession due to a natural phenomenon have faced corruption and negligence.

Demolitions in Mexico City or in any state of the country have left a spiritual and material void but for each government it is a hole to fill, opportunities to expropriate.

The earthquakes in Mexico have changed society, leading to an amazing resilience.

Every day, the internal seismographs shake us when we learn the statistics of poverty, violence, corruption, disappearances, kidnappings, femicides and, of course, the excessive illicit enrichment of several political representatives.

We need to remain one not only in an earthquake, so, if necessary let us remember the physical and mental strength invested in days and nights of anguish where the meaning of raised fists means: life.

The earthquakes in Mexico have taught us that we can collapse and rebuild what has structural damage, our secret has been based on two things: will and organization, how do we take this capacity to influence other structures that are not made of slabs or steel?
