Tonight represents a milestone of the greatest importance in the history of the institution that I have the privilege of leading and, although it is my turn to be in this position during the celebration, I know that my work is in addition to that of many people who have worked hard during these twenty years to build the Mexico we want.
Mexicans have been longing for a different reality for a long time. It has been an intense battle against major structural problems that on many occasions seem impossible to overcome: poverty, inequality, insecurity, educational backwardness, lack of infrastructure, opacity in the use of public resources, low growth and corruption, to mention a few. And although achieving victory is, in addition to our obligation, a permanent task, we would all like to see the enemy line recede little by little, so that millions of Mexicans would now have better living conditions.
