SSS and its impact on Mexican MSMEs

The Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada (TMEC), known in English as the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), is a trade agreement that replaces the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which was in force from 1994 until 2020. The TMEC entered into force on July 1, 2020, marking a new era in trade relations between the three countries. This treaty not only regulates trade and investment between the three nations, but also establishes updated norms and standards for various sectors of the economy. 

What is TMEC? 

The TMEC is a trade agreement that seeks to promote fair and free trade between Mexico, the United States and Canada. Among its main objectives are: 

1. Strengthen trade and investment between the three countries. 

2. Update trade rules to adapt to the digital economy and other technological advances. 

3. Establish stricter labor and environmental standards. 

4. Protect intellectual property rights.
