The Inauguration Day was of course attended by the Republican elite and tycoons such as Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, Shou Zi Chew, CEO of TikTok, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, Carlos Slim, Ricardo Salinas Pliego, among others.
Unlike his predecessors, who used to give solemn, technical and diplomatic inaugural speeches, addressed to businessmen and politicians around the world, Donald Trump, as he did eight years ago, gave a nationalist, populist, polarizing, radical (and at times fascist), and terribly scripted speech... Identical to all his campaign speeches. At first it was evident that he was reading the prompter and was uncomfortable, although he gradually relaxed.
As in all his campaign speeches, Trump announced that The Golden Age of America was beginning at that moment. "My election is a mandate to completely turn around a horrible vendetta and many others that have occurred. We are going to give people back their faith, their wealth, and we are going to give them back their democracy and, in fact, their freedom as well. As of this moment, America's decline is over. Our freedoms and our nation's glorious destiny will no longer be denied. And we will immediately restore the competence and loyalty of the U.S. government.
Donald Trump self-proclaimed himself God's chosen one to save The United States:
"A few months ago, in a field in Pennsylvania, a bullet flew by my ear and I felt it. And now I believe it even more, that my life I preserve for one reason: that God has allowed me to make America great again."
In addition to proclaiming himself God's chosen one, he called himself the liberator:
"January 20, 2025, for the citizens of the United States is Liberation Day. I hope my recent presidential election will be remembered as the most important election."
He thanked the black and Hispanic community for coming out to vote. And like Lopez Obrador who spoke of Benito Juarez, Trump hung on the name of Martin Luther King. He immediately forgot about the Hispanics who voted for him and who (surely many) were illegals decades ago, to announce what he promised so much on the campaign trail:
"Today I am going to sign a series of historic executive orders and with these measures we are going to begin the complete restoration of America and the common sense revolution. Here, this is all about common sense. First of all, I'm going to declare a national emergency on the southern border of the country. All illegal entry will be stopped immediately and we will begin the process of returning millions and millions of criminal aliens to the places they came from. We will restore the "Stay in Mexico" policy. I will end the practice of catch and release. I will send soldiers and troops to the southern border to repel the shameful invasion of our country. Under the orders I'm signing today, we will also designate the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. And by invoking the Alien Enemies Act in 1798, I will direct the Government to use immense federal power to eliminate the presence of foreign gangs and criminal networks that bring devastating crime to U.S. soil, including our cities. As Commander-in-Chief, I have no greater responsibility than to defend our country from threats and invasions. And that's exactly what I'm going to do. We're going to do it at a level that no one has ever seen before."
Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama did not applaud or stand up every time the audience did so to give a standing ovation to the radical promises of the 47th president of the United States.
He also promised to reduce inflation and declared a national energy emergency. "We are going to end that mandate of the electric vehicle to save again the workers of the automotive sector of our country". He also promised to end censorship and assured that he will promote freedom of expression. And he threatened to take back the Panama Canal.
It will only recognize two genders, male and female.
"This week I will end the social engineering policy of race and gender in all aspects of private and public life. We will forge a society that will not look at (skin) color and based on merit. From this day forward it will be official U.S. government policy that there are only two genders, male and female."
He confirmed that he will change the name of the "Gulf of Mexico" to "Gulf of America". Undoubtedly, what shook all of Mexico was the announcement to designate Mexican cartels as terrorist organizations.
The message made Claudia Sheinbaum tremble because hours later, Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente and the Secretaries of Security, Navy and Defense arrived in a hurry to the National Palace.
