Much has been said about the ideology of MORENA, AMLO and the current "president" of Mexico. But the reality is that neither the party nor the leaders have an ideology; they have only one objective and they are achieving it: to establish a dictatorship.
They are dismantling everything that was built by the right and the left in the last five decades. They have already crushed the PRI, the PAN, the MC and devoured the satellite parties of the supposed Mexican left.
Nothing matters more than their dismantling project. They don't even care about simulation anymore. They are no longer interested in negotiating with the opposition. They do not care about Mexico's rating or the T-MEC. Nor do they seem to care about settling conflicts with the United States. We could or should even get the idea that just what they want is to break relations with the United States and Canada to nationalize a handful of companies, as Hugo Chavez did in Venezuela, freeze their bank accounts and accuse Donald Trump of imposing a blockade against Mexico or violating our sovereignty by invading our country with their military in search of drug traffickers, which they decided to call terrorists.
If we go to the more pessimistic side, all is lost. But if we raise our eyes to the horizon, maybe we can see something.
I believe and need to believe that we can get out of this hell into which the PRI, the PAN, the PRD, the PVEM, the PT, the MC and MORENA have put us. And we must also recognize that as an indifferent society we got ourselves into.
Is it possible to create a new party without politicians from the old political caste? Is it possible to create a new political force without the tricks and vices of the parties we already know?
I don't know. I am not partisan, but I do believe that not all of our political class is rotten. I need to have some hope. Without that there is no life.
Next January 20, 2025, the National Civic Front will file its application before the National Electoral Institute to become a "political party that does not call itself a party", according to Leonardo Valdés Zurita, the last president of the Federal Electoral Institute (IFE). "A party that is neither of the left nor of the right."
During the National Citizens' Meeting to which representatives of the 32 states and 270 electoral districts were summoned this Saturday in Mexico City, Guadalupe Acosta Naranjo said that they will maintain the unitary spirit and that they must comply with the basic rules before the creation of a new political force:
- That the leaders cannot and should not be candidates for anything,
- That the causes are ahead of the interests of the leaders, and
- Candidates should not be chosen by the leaders, but should come out of primary elections.
I am going to be very honest and pessimistic, because I do not like to dream in vain, although I still have hope: I doubt that AMLO's INE will give them registration. Guadalupe Taddei would lose a lot if he allowed the National Civic Front to become a political party. Forgive my pessimism, but if we take a close look at the events in national politics, not only in the last 58 days, but in the last three six-year terms, López Obrador has known how to manipulate everything at his whim. If he managed to get the INE led by Lorenzo Cordova to deny registration to Felipe Calderon's party, what will he not achieve with Guadalupe Taddei at the helm!
I hope I am wrong. I hope I am wrong and that next year we will have a new political party with a real ideology. An ideology that seeks the good of Mexicans. A political party that is less corrupt than the ones we have. I know it is childish to dream of a party that is one hundred percent honest. But at least a group of politicians more committed to society.
Otherwise, we will have to wait until 2031 for the formation of a new political force in Mexico, if along the way, MORENA and allies do not change the Constitution and quadruple the requirements to apply for registration to create a new political party.
