No one can define exactly when it is time to end a relationship. The body simply communicates it to us.
This does not mean, of course, that we should not support him and even defend him, whenever possible. But we must also let it go when it has already given us everything, when we have already given everything. Perhaps that is our last great romantic gesture: to let go of love so that it can find new paths, just as lovers do.
