Migrant budget plummets in the midst of the crisis

"I am very grateful to the migrant countrymen, living heroes. This commits us to continue supporting the people of Mexico," said President Andrés Manuel López Obrador at the height of the pandemic in May 2020, referring to the millions of dollars in remittances that were entering Mexico during the most difficult moments of the health emergency.

But it was not the first time, practically every chance he gets he boasts about those who left their homeland in search of better opportunities and how their work is injecting resources into the country through their shipments.
