Alan Moore's novel "V for Vendetta" tells the story of a dystopian future where a government cannot ensure peace and justice. "True power lies in not being afraid," Moore wrote. And, indeed, how long have we Mexicans been walking in fear, driving on roads in fear, visiting ranches in fear, doing business in fear...? Fear of the control that cartels and criminals exert over more and more aspects of the lives of civilians seeking to live and work without complications.

The recent massacre at a posada in Salvatierra, Guanajuato, which left 12 people murdered, reveals once again this climate of uncertainty in which we must coexist even to attend a Christmas celebration. However, it is crucial to point out that if any criminal organization acts out of revenge, impulse or error in murdering a group of people, it should not be excused with phrases such as "the victims were on drugs," as the president mentioned in relation to the case of the young men in Celaya, Guanajuato.

Women at the forefront of the debate, leading the way to a more inclusive and equitable dialogue. Here, diversity of thought and equitable representation across sectors are not mere ideals; they are the heart of our community.
