I met Azucena Uresti in the coincidence of the constant and eternal pilgrimage of the journalist: searching for stories that show us reality as it is. Some years ago I had the good fortune to form alliances, collaborations and agreements with her from the vision of this journalism that seeks the truth beyond any philias or phobias. I had a segment in her television space -which resulted in a great friendship- and from it I could confirm her professionalism and almost overdimensioned obsession for perfection and rigor.

We coincide from this journalism that does not seek power, nor public relations; that does not bet on parties or to become a millionaire, from this naive journalism, perhaps, which is rather a mission of life. From a journalism that encompasses a human right, freedom of expression, which is perhaps the only one that is not covered by the State, unlike others such as health, education, justice?

Journalists do not have to be the news, but to look for it, to sniff and dig sometimes in the middle of the trenches of armies with political, economic or power interests in which we do not enter but among which, undoubtedly, we have to walk, sometimes with helmet, with or without protection or at ground level between the cannons of the fronts that have motivations that are alien to us.

And in journalism, as in life in general, one cannot stand out without honesty, dedication and a certain compulsion to think that there is always something more to tell, to discover, to offer.

As the great Darío Restrepo would say: journalists do not seek power but service, and that is how they discover their vocation, through the enthusiasm and passion with which they serve the public with quality information.

And I also take this opportunity to quote another famous journalist, Gabriel García Márquez, who used to say that, in spite of everything, journalism is the best profession in the world.

So, far from polarization, rumors and intrigues, the bet should be for more Azucenas and more journalism that serves and seeks to survive with the truth as a flag even in the face of the onslaught of censorship as a constant tide.
