Ah, Mexico City, that chaotic scenario where millions of souls are torn between hopelessness and weariness due to the health, security and infrastructure crisis. But fear not, friends, our illustrious authorities have the perfect solution to momentarily sweeten our lives: a free concert by Rosalia, the acclaimed Spanish singer, in the capital's Zocalo on April 28. Because, obviously, that's just what we need, right? Forget about nonsense like improving the legal infrastructure, hiring experts, lawyers, judges and police, or protecting battered women, let Rosalía's chords ring out while the world crumbles around us!
Sure, because there is nothing more humane and empathetic than offering bread and circuses while the city is drowning in problems due to the lack of the most vital elements. Isn't it wonderful how our authorities always find a way to distract us from the real concerns and priorities, as if we were little girls being given a candy to stop us from crying? And the best of all is that this free concert comes just in time for the next elections. What a coincidence! Is it an opportunistic move to win votes?
