That the Zócalo is full, that the Zócalo is full... the Zócalo is full. There is some peace in that image, it has nothing to do with the furious response that the ruling party will have in X, nor with López Obrador and much less with any opposition party, that peace comes from knowing that people care about such an abstract concept as democracy.
I got into the cab and asked the driver, an African-American woman in her thirties, who she would vote for, she answered: "It doesn't matter, they are all terrible, maybe Trump. I froze, there were no surprises at that point, we already knew that Trump was a misogynist character preceded by racist comments against all kinds of groups, but that did not seem even a small stone in the cab driver's shoe, simply the whole political class always failed, it was worth trying something new. That disenchantment is not alien to us, I remember people boasting their vote for Cuauhtémoc Blanco because as he "was already rich, he would not need to steal anymore"; the 2018 election brought to the polls the convinced and the angry, in this second group there was also a division: those who would vote for anyone but Andrés Manuel, and those who would vote for Andrés Manuel as long as they did not vote for the PRI, the end of this story we know, "we can't do worse than with the PRI" right?
