Are women in literature a fad?

"When an author puts a woman as the protagonist, she is writing a novel for women; when a writer puts a man, she is writing a novel for humanity", was the phrase that shocked, of course in a sarcastic and critical way, Alejandra Segura, the poet and booktuber who accompanied Sofía Segovia in the intellectual duel of Opinión 51 at the meeting Women and Literature.

And it is true: the literary narrative dominated by the male pen has made us forget that women also touch on universal themes, but they are also the ones who read, join book clubs and buy titles. " Women have been closet readers," said Sofia Segovia assertively. Are they a fashion now? No, no... yes? The topic has been put on the agenda, Alejandra assured, but we will continue to tell stories with men and women because it has always been that way, the difference is that now they raise their voices and slide their pens and no longer sign with pseudonyms.

We will continue reading, in other formats, in other textures, in digital and in print; in social networks, on postcards, on walls. Writing and reading, because it is part of our evolution as intelligent beings.

We must read, follow, listen.
