Yesterday, in a session that will go down in history, the First Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation declared unconstitutional the articles of the Federal Criminal Code that absolutely criminalize abortion.
In order to understand what happened yesterday, we must talk about last Wednesday's ruling, where, at the proposal of Minister Juan Luis Gonzalez Alcantara Carrancá, the criminal definition of abortion in the criminal code of the state of Aguascalientes was declared unconstitutional and ordered the local congress to repeal during this session and the other local administrative authorities to inapply the criminal law in question. This is important because it was these effects that would be replicated a week later.
