There is a very powerful phrase, but because of its simplicity we do not pay much attention to it: "you reap what you sow" and this is very true. If you sow lemons you will reap lemons, if you sow mangoes you will reap mangoes, and the same happens with our thoughts. Depending on the quality of the "seeds" you put in it, will depend on the emotions you experience and the kind of life you have.
If all day long you are filling your mind with distressing and chilling news, the cortisol that your body generates will cause stress levels difficult to handle, anxiety and fear will be present and will make you live a really tense and difficult day to cope with. But if, on the contrary, you focus your attention on the good things around you and constantly thank for them, the happiness hormone will be activated and will motivate you to be content, harmonious and happy, regardless of the reality you are living. I know this sounds like joining the optimists' club where you shout hand in hand how happy you are, but that's not what it's about. It's about taking care of your energy, your thoughts and your emotions to bring you greater well-being. And yes, you read that right, I said "pro-vo-car-te", because neuroscience experts have discovered that just as we sow seeds in the field, we can do the same within ourselves to create a more rewarding inner world.
That is why two people experience the same experience in totally different ways: where one may see a tragedy, another may see a blessing. As it is well said: "where your attention is, there is your energy".
In the same way it happens when we are creating without much awareness our current reality and we do it based on the thoughts, beliefs and emotions of the past. If we always put the same ingredients to make a chocolate cake we will get the same chocolate cake over and over again. My present is the result of my past and if I do not make an internal change, my future will be practically the same as my present. Hard to think of a different result, don't you think?
Hence the importance of generating in our mind the image and the emotion that our "ideal future self" would generate. This is not a game, it is to put into use the neuroplasticity of our brain, creating new neural networks so that through our perception our mind can detect in reality the actions we must take to manifest a new reality. It is through a felt visualization that we can live our future "today", to teach our body, heart and mind what it feels like to be already in our ideal self and to be able to create it.
