A few days ago, talking to a lady about going back to school, she told me the following: "How many times I have heard beautiful comments about my Mateo from other moms: how well he is doing, how much fun he is having, everyone helps him in the classroom, my son loves him very much. But, she doesn't invite him home for lunch one day."
I got to thinking about how many kids at one time or another don't fit in with the group either because of their character, introversion, physical appearance, the way they dress or because their mom does them the favor of sending them something smelly for lunch (who said hard-boiled egg sandwich?).
Or, as in the case of Mateo and my own daughter, because they have something that will always make them different, their neurodivergence.
