Last week, I was invited to a forum in Panama City on the topic of migration in Latin America, with a particular focus on the specific problems of women migrants.

The place where the Congress was held was ideal because Panama is the gateway for migration coming from South America and passing through the most pronounced orographic feature of the continent known as the Darien Gap. It takes days for migrants to cross this dense jungle, with all the risks involved, especially during the rainy season, which in this region of our America is almost all year round. In addition to dealing with the inclement weather and the difficulties of an area of lush vegetation, there is the human factor that is not always of help and solidarity.

Women at the forefront of the debate, leading the way to a more inclusive and equitable dialogue. Here, diversity of thought and equitable representation across sectors are not mere ideals; they are the heart of our community.
