The announcement of the appointment of Alicia Bárcena as the new Secretary of Foreign Affairs was very well received . Although ratification by the Senate is still pending, we are faced with a profile that more than meets the requirements to be the head of the Mexican Foreign Ministry. The Permanent Commission will have to call an extraordinary period for such purpose. Incidentally, the call could also serve to complete the pending process of appointing the commissioners of the INAI.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Tourism are the agencies that have had the largest number of women as heads in Mexico's history. In the case of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the first was Rosario Green, the second was Patricia Espinosa Cantellano and Claudia Ruiz Massieu, the third.
