It is urgent to bring politics closer to the citizenry, to evolve communication, to lower the terminology, to politicize the youth who are increasingly more and have less awareness of their vote, because they are not informed in depth if not by the viral, if at all; and we have not understood their forms, their times and their retention capacity. And not only this generation, we have all - with social networks and the saturation of information - changed our times, our tolerance and our needs.
But neither television nor radio nor most digital formats have understood this yet, constantly changing casts and journalists believing that the formula to retain audience is the number of followers in networks or the viral character of the moment that generally has a short life, without understanding that it is the form of delivery that must change, not who delivers it.
The need to entertain and inform can be achieved by informing while entertaining. We must bet on info-entertainment and new ways of sharing the system, politics and its machinery, to bring it much closer to the citizen. And it must be understood that Mexicans are not solidary citizens. We believe the opposite because of the five days of "survivor's guilt in catastrophes", but the reality is that afterwards the victim is totally forgotten. Mexicans only care about what affects them personally, that is, if you tell them that the new energy reform puts foreign investment at risk, they do not care, they do not see beyond that, but if you tell them that with it they will have constant blackouts in their homes and the price of their electricity bill will go up, then...yes, they will care. Let's start seducing him with the resultant personal effects.
Let's study the network profiles in order to permeate the minds so saturated and apathetic today, each one has its own way and interest, the networks have their own ecosystems and times and what works for one may not work in another network. That is why it is important to find the nooks and crannies of identity in each one and design communication plans in particular.
Why not study the way in which news is delivered, what happens in the Chambers, initiatives, reforms? Everything that corresponds to politics must be presented in an attractive way to engage the viewer.
But how to make politics a topic of interest?
So, with apples and pears, with colloquial examples, with similarities and repercussions of our daily life. It is not sexy what is not shown, what is not shown, what does not seduce.
Knowing the practice of the Legislative Branch, its initiatives, its decisions and their results are of vital importance for every Mexican, and actually very interesting. The tone of attack should also be reduced and exchanged for one of... The more information, the better the decisions and the greater the opportunities.
With the understanding that today we are our own programmers, that we live hand in hand with a device that delivers content 24/7 and that the system in which we live also shortens our time and interest, it is necessary to find better ways to share politics, which is actually an attractive topic and goes hand in hand with all areas of our lives. If we could make citizens understand the importance of politics and bring them closer to it, the country would change and with it our lives. It is distant for many, with words that are difficult to understand and complicated processes, it is stereotyped as complex and malpractice. And of course I am not going to defend the political class or its tasks, but in reality, if we understood it, we would realize that it is even interesting. But above all the importance of it in everything we do. We do not realize that by not getting involved we allow them to hurt our rights, our opportunities, our future, our day to day.
Apathy is what has decided the last two elections, abstentionism in both has been greater than the number of votes of the elected in turn. It is time to rethink how we involve the citizen so that he/she becomes a participant and a real voter.
