Why is Minister Arturo Zaldivar resigning? He does not say and the lucubrations stop at what for. That if Claudia Sheinbaum needs him, that if he is looking to become a prosecutor, that if he fancies a candidacy.
All of this is ridiculous. First: a presidential campaign is not, by far, a cause that merits leaving a position as a justice of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation. A presidential campaign or a few teary eyes from Sheinbaum or Andrés Manuel López Obrador do not constitute the serious misconduct that would give Zaldívar permission to leave the very honorable position he holds today.
Art. 98: The resignations of the Justices of the Supreme Court of Justice shall only proceed for serious causes; they shall be submitted to the Executive and, if the Executive accepts them, it shall send them to the Senate for approval.
