In the big picture, the exercise gets its popcorn. The candidates were prepared, the image was good, the microphones and clocks worked flawlessly, and the format allowed for something resembling a conversational exchange between the participants.
Besides, the debate fulfilled its purpose, which is not to show the winner of an ongoing contest, but to promote the conversation about the capital election and open windows to deepen the topics addressed in the forum. I heard Taboada say that the water was not clear and Brugada that there will always be clean water to infinity and beyond, which was mostly entertaining, but then I saw extraordinary media-organized exercises with environmental and urban planning experts that would not have had an audience if they had not been triggered by the debate.
