It wasn't the Mossad, it was Netanyahu.

What failed was not the Mossad, it was Netanyahu and for that reason his days could be numbered. 

Egyptian Intelligence Minister Abbas Kamel, has publicly stated that he warned the Israeli in a phone call that this could happen 10 days before the attacks began - and nearly 1,900 lives were lost on both sides - including those of the 40 babies whose throats were slit by Hamas.

Egypt is a country that has generally served as a mediator in the Arab-Israeli conflict and so it is important to note that Abbas Kamel stated, that they were concerned that Israel was focusing its attention on the West Bank and neglecting the Gaza Strip.
