It took only three days for China to react to the U.S. decision to restrict the export of semiconductors to its country and this confirmed that Artificial Intelligence has become a new battlefront between the two countries.
It all started when on Tuesday of last week, the US Department of Commerce made the decision to close the loopholes left over from previous trade vetoes and announced the restriction of chips used for both military purposes, as well as Artificial Intelligence, to the Asian giant.
The news had not yet gotten old, when China decided to take a tit-for-tat response and announced that it would restrict exports of graphite, an essential component in electric vehicle batteries for which China produces two-thirds of global demand, and refines 90% of that used in electric vehicle batteries.
