Israel is currently at the same point as the United States after the September 11 attacks on the twin towers and for its sake, it must not make the same mistake.

The anger and fear they feel after the October 7 Hamas attacks on their territory has them focused on destroying anyone who might threaten their existence, and that means that - like the Americans in 2001 - they are not focused on what might happen next.

So far, lack of supplies and shelling are aggravating the situation in the Gaza Strip as aid piles up at the border. Reports indicate that at least 3,000 Gazans have been killed in Israeli attacks and based on data provided by Save The Children, one out of every three dead is a child. In Israel, the death toll amounts to 1,400 and therefore the comparison with the U.S. country at this point in its history is inescapable.
