The first legislature in Jalisco to have a majority of women decided that a man, specifically Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, should be the one to tell them what is best for them to guarantee parity in access to candidacies.
With 26 votes in favor of a de facto alliance formed by Movimiento Ciudadano and the Institutional Revolutionary and National Action parties, the reform to the Electoral Code was approved.
The initiative was presented by the head of the Executive Branch, who announced it in a video broadcast on social networks, in which he appeared accompanied by the coordinator of the MC deputies, Quirino Velázquez.
