Every day we interact with women who inspire us. From our own mother, sister or daughter, to friends, co-workers or neighbors. Each one of them is special because regardless of her personal role or professional work, she has a story to tell, full of value, learning and enriching experiences.
Women are guided by a dream that gives us the energy we need to contribute positive things, whether in our own home, in a company or organization. Others have decided to undertake a project or business with the intention of giving the best of themselves to their family and community. Perhaps without realizing it, their actions have begun to have an impact, to a greater or lesser extent, to improve their environment.
If we look around us and pay attention, we will see more than one woman whose work, dedication, commitment and creativity are adding to the lives of others. But do we really recognize them?
In a society where for some people success is still defined by the job title or by the amount of money and goods accumulated by someone, little do we stop to recognize and give visibility to women who are focused on giving their best and, consequently, inspire others along the way, women and men.
According to a study conducted by Llorente y Cuenca in 2022 on social media conversations in the fields of politics, business and journalism in 12 countries (including Mexico), only 1 in 4 messages refers to or is about women. Worse still, only 1 in 100 posts about leadership refer to women in business. When zooming in on business conversations, only 5% refer to influential women entrepreneurs.
If we look beyond, we can keep our five senses alert so that, once we manage to recognize and make visible the women who inspire others, we can build a network of value together with them. This will be a true recognition of the hard work, intelligence and courage they put into achieving their dreams every day.
At some point we have all known the story of these women who, motivated to grow and overcome life's challenges, have become an example to follow. For them we want to be a support that gives visibility and spreads their stories.
Together with Tack Editorial and Opinión 51, the Coordinating Council of Women Entrepreneurs Mexico City Chapter (CCME CDMX) collaborates in E.L.L.A.S Transforman, a multi-channel communication platform that seeks to give voice and visibility to the stories of inspiring women to create a positive impact, influence new generations and generate a catalyst for the evolution towards a more equitable society.
If you know someone who has a life story that has personally inspired you, nominate them! Or if you think you are that woman who can help inspire others, you can also nominate yourself.
In a first stage that will end this month, we are looking for stories that will be integrated into a book to be published in October 2023. In the second stage of the project we will continue to give visibility to the cases in order to publish them in additional channels: website, blog, various media allies, podcast.
Visit www.ellastransforman.mx, where you will find all the information you need about this initiative that, with your help, will transcend.
Let us recognize and give greater visibility to women who have impacted our lives in a positive way, who have motivated us to set goals, to believe in our dreams and have helped us to grow and transform ourselves.
The opinions expressed are the responsibility of the authors and are absolutely independent of the position and editorial line of Opinion 51.
More than 150 opinions from 100 columnists await you for less than one book per month.
