"One question, everything they say to me,
isn't there gender rape or is the gender just feminine?"
-AMLO, president of Mexico (August 9, 2023)

The president of Mexico, the country of the 10 women murdered a day -and in the middle of 2023- said this Wednesday, without a hint of self-criticism, that the questioning of him can be considered political gender violence.

The reactions to these statements have been a mixture of perplexity and anger. The most surprising thing, in my opinion, is not that the President does not know what gender violence refers to, or that he does not understand why it does not apply in his case; what strikes me most is that by trying to discredit the decision of the Electoral Tribunal in the face of his statements against Xochitl Galvez, he discredits the different dimensions of violence suffered not only by his supporters and defenders, but also by himself; he discredits his own discourse.

Women at the forefront of the debate, leading the way to a more inclusive and equitable dialogue. Here, diversity of thought and equitable representation across sectors are not mere ideals; they are the heart of our community.
