By Cecilia Patricia Flores, Leader of the Searching Mothers Collective of Sonora.

President López Obrador, I wish I could tell you otherwise, but the truth is that you failed us and continue to fail us.
I will speak for myself, although I am sure that many like me, who are looking for their treasures, also feel the same way.
Make no mistake president, what we - the search collectives - do is not protagonism or politicking. We will never use the absence of our disappeared for undignified purposes.
What good would all that you say we are looking for do us when we are incomplete, President?
We are driven by nothing but love.
We have no monetary interest, we have a love contained and reserved for when we find our missing. We live between love and hope every minute of the day, knowing that we will live searching all the time until we find them, searching and meeting with whoever offers us hope.
When you say that what you say about us is politicking, we feel a lot of apathy on your part, President.
With all due respect, come with us to our quests, walk the fields, step on the branches, dig the shovel, you will see that many times we literally work with our fingernails, president, that many times we struggle to put gas in the cars, we have to push them to get back. This will probably help you to understand our struggle, maybe you will be sensitized and feel what we feel.
We are not even motivated by revenge, President, we do not want revenge, we want peace.
Do you know what it is to lose peace? It is to live incomplete, to carry a constant anguish and to deal with an emptiness that nothing can fill.
Look at the way things are president, they build new roads for the cartels, they open roads for them, they give them hugs because they are human beings, that is what you said, but I want to ask you not to forget that our children also have the right as humans to return home. We mothers assert the rights of our disappeared and we decide to look for them in order to find them.
