Enkoll recently published a survey for El País and W Radio with relevant data on these first months of the beginning of the government. President Claudia Sheinbaum has an approval rating of 82%. This is not only a positive evaluation of her performance: 74% of citizens also have a good opinion of her as a person. Morena, the party that brought her to power, consolidates as the political force with which most Mexicans identify (50%).

One of the most striking findings is that this approval is widespread. It is supported by people of all economic and educational levels, both women and men, and even by supporters of opposition parties.

To put it in perspective, former President López Obrador had a 70% approval rating six months into his six-year term. His highest point was after 100 days, with 85%. We do not yet know if this 82% will also be Sheinbaum's peak, but for now it is clear that her start has been even stronger and more stable than López Obrador's, at least in terms of approval.

However, security continues to be the main concern for the citizenry. Forty-six percent of those interviewed mentioned it as the country's greatest problem. When we delve deeper into the meaning of "insecurity", 36% think of robberies and assaults, 13% of violence and 11% of drug trafficking.

This concern is heightened by cases such as Rancho Izaguirre, in Teuchitlán, Jalisco, which has received extensive media coverage and generated public concern. Almost half of those surveyed (48%) have seen or heard some news about it. Among those who are informed, 34% mention the existence of crematoriums and human remains as the main known fact. The opposition was able to position the issue in the public conversation, although it was not necessarily able to link it to the federal government.
