In Mexico, there is an idea that the more a person works, the more productive he/she is. However, the data show that this idea is not accurate: we are the second most productive country in the OECD (with 2,226 hours per worker per year, only surpassed by Colombia with 2,405), but our productivity is the second lowest (19 dollars per hour worked, while the average for member countries is 53).
This belief can influence the way people make decisions in daily life. Those who take it for granted prioritize keeping busy and do not necessarily focus on what is really important and worthwhile.
