While the Mexican National Team was suffering an outrageous defeat, my children were enjoying "special time with daddy" at the Copa America. For months, several friends organized to take their soccer-loving children to watch international matches live and direct. An unforgettable experience.
My sons, Carlos, 10, and Nicolas, 8, were born soccer fans at heart. I don't know from where, because neither their dad nor I live the hobby. They play in every spare time, they are part of the school team, they watch replays of matches from all over the world on TV and they know so many statistics and curious facts about this sport that they surprise me.
When they returned from the trip, I decided to interview them about their perception of Mexico's participation. The reaction was clear. The older one told me "Mom, they didn't give it all they had, it showed. In the last game, I saw them tired and they were even happy when they were taken out. Nothing to do with Colombia who played and played and played and played and scored three great goals". Nico, annoyed, said "he could have scored a penalty and he missed it, he sent it to the goalkeeper's hands".
