When Donald Trump and López Obrador aspired to the presidency and that possibility seemed distant on both sides of the border, I asked in my column "Reasons and Passions": "What if Trump and AMLO win?

As we all know, it happened.

One of the multiple answers we can now give is that the triumph of both allowed a dark negotiation, against the interests of their own nations, so that the highest-ranking military figure, accused of links to drug trafficking, would be released and not face justice.
