A constant, especially in recent years, is that many public officials are uncomfortable with the fact that people talk about the shortcomings of their work, acts of corruption and negligence, and have found in suing journalists in court a way to intimidate and silence what they do not want to come to light.
Today they have found in lawsuits a mechanism for censorship.
But in addition, an official can sue a journalist for every job he or she does. Just imagine the number of lawsuits that each journalist would have to deal with if that were the case?
