The first meeting of the three NAFTA partners was in 2005 in Texas. At that time, George W. Bush, Vicente Fox and Paul Martin sat at the same table in Waco.
This trade bloc, although still the most powerful in the world, has changed brutally due to geopolitical adjustments (A.K.A. China as a world economic power), with a global financial crisis, a pandemic that hit the entire planet for two years and the end of a buoyant business model of opportunities to lower costs and increase productivity, such as globalization. A virus demonstrated that not only the immune systems of humans but also the logistic systems of countries can collapse and leave you without oxygen or supplies.
