"Everything is bigger in Texas"... no, everything is bigger in India.

The largest democratic elections in recent history began this Friday. With a population of almost 1,000 million people, it is 10 times the size of the electoral process that we will experience in a few weeks in the country.

But these are not the only dantesque facts about the elections that are taking place in this Asian subcontinent:

● 1 million polling places with 5 million electronic ballot boxes

● 2 kilometers is the maximum distance each person must travel to vote.

● 15 million polling place officials monitor the process

● 6-week voting period (ends June 4)

● Voting is not compulsory but historically 70% of the electoral roll votes.

● 13.4 million Indians in exile eligible to vote remotely

Women at the forefront of the debate, leading the way to a more inclusive and equitable dialogue. Here, diversity of thought and equitable representation across sectors are not mere ideals; they are the heart of our community.
