When we think of technology and development in Mexico we tend to look towards Silicon Valley or Asia, but the question is: what if Mexico could play in that league? With President Claudia Sheinbaum's "Plan Mexico", the country seeks to become a key player in the technology and cybersecurity industry. Will it succeed? Let's see what's behind this big bet.

For years, Mexico has been a country where technological products designed elsewhere are assembled. Plan Mexico wants to change that history with an investment of 277 billion dollars and a strong boost to domestic production. Among its most ambitious plans is the creation of the "Kutsari" National Semiconductor Design Center, which promises to develop chips for the automotive industry, healthcare and more.

This sounds incredible, but there is a key question: do we have the talent to make it happen? Because building factories is only part of the equation; training engineers, scientists and specialists capable of taking advantage of this infrastructure is the real challenge.

If Mexico is going to grow technologically, it also needs to protect itself. This is where the new General Directorate of Cybersecurity comes into play, which will have the mission of protecting the State's digital assets and ensuring that government information is secure. In addition, "Nube Mexico" will be created, a system to strengthen the country's digital infrastructure.
