How can we begin to get to know each other again, to re-unite, if a wall of distrust built with resentment and hatred divides us, how can we invite to unity, to harmony, if we have become accustomed to look first at the stains instead of looking at each other?

Without a public apology that assumes responsibility for the errors committed, the doors to reconciliation will not open. Without an attitude that welcomes it and cancels the claims and rancor, we will not enter through those doors. The darkness of the days we live in demands that we assume the urgency of sitting down again at the same tables and start listening to each other again. And only with generosity will there be apologies and forgiveness.

Generosity to let go of the cell phone and give attention to the speaker. Generosity to try to understand from where and why someone says what they say. Offer and ask for the same thing: to be heard and understood. The lists of grievances are long. The consequences of acts and omissions are greater. Numbering them and dwelling on them does not solve them nor is it enough. We live in an emergency and only sometimes, when it hits us directly, do we accept to recognize it.

Without the generosity of each party, each group, each person, we will not be able to move forward or repair the minimum platform of trust that these days demand.

Lies are the color of official discourse. The reviews on the abyss between what is said and what is done has become the brutal evidence that unmasks, every hour, the way we are governed. Truth has never been less valued in Mexico. Trust is the goal to rebuild. To stop being suspicious, to stop wanting to unravel what is behind any phrase, because what is heard is all that needs to be understood. To know that the word promised will be fulfilled. To start from certainties in order to walk together, together, together.

Government that divides, parties that betray, professional politicians and politicians that deceive, citizens that we let them pass or we take sides and compete in insults to justify ourselves. That is the way we are going. Irresponsible, all of us. How far away is the democratic life we have achieved, although insufficient. We only continue to asphalt the streets of our homes with the anguish of a future that we feel cancelled and we wait for options to channel the claim.

In order to get away from complaining, apathy and only pointing fingers and blaming others, a seed group of civil organizations are inviting all people with a democratic vocation to build a great citizen alliance. That space where we fit together, together. From these organizations we sense the eagerness of many Mexican men and women who urgently need to be part of the solution. We call on all of you to belong to the citizen's work to find and walk the path towards a better destiny.

We call ourselves Unid@s and on Tuesday, October 11, we made our call known. We hope you will join us and join us. More information at: YouTube: bit.ly/3T3H1DDD. If you want to participate in the construction of the citizens' proposal: https://wa.me/message/YKN2C56VXCJHO1
