It must be 1998 because I'm in third grade and the school principal comes in to give us the unfortunate news. 

  • "Prof. Pablo passed away due to dengue fever."

He had been in the hospital for a couple of weeks. During a school vacation he had taken the opportunity to visit his native Oaxaca. I remember it very vividly, at that time I was very good at math and everything had to do with him, it was the second year he was teaching us and he had even convinced me to enter a competition.
